Description
Whether you have a specific photograph in mind or simply an idea you’d like to bring to life, this workshop will teach you how to transform wool fibres into a beautiful piece of art using wet felting techniques.
What you will learn: During the workshop, you will learn the step-by-step process of laying out fine merino wool to create a picture with depth, texture, and vibrant colours. I will guide you through the techniques, helping you understand how to manipulate the wool fibres to achieve your desired effects.
Once you have completed the wet felting process, the next stage of the artwork involves adding embroidery details. You have the option to choose between hand embroidery or machine embroidery, allowing you to personalise your piece and showcase your own unique style. This part of the process is done at home, giving you the freedom to take your time and add intricate details.
To display your finished artwork, you have two choices. You can either create a circular piece that fits snugly into a 35cm round bamboo hoop (included in the workshop price), which provides a contemporary and ready-to-hang display option. Alternatively, you can make a square piece that can be later framed, allowing you to explore different framing options and suit your personal taste.
Materials provided: All materials needed for the workshop are included, ensuring you have everything necessary to bring your wool painting to life. From high-quality merino wool fibres in an array of beautiful silks fibres, recycled fabrics, wool yarn, and the bamboo hoop, we have you covered.
Who should attend: No prior experience is required for this workshop. It is open to beginners and experienced crafters alike. Come and discover the joy of painting with wool, unleash your creativity, and create a stunning piece of fibre art that you can proudly display or gift to someone special.
