Christmas is just around the corner! I am actually looking forward to Christmas this year. I can’t always say that, because it always seems to be a very stressful time. However nothing can compare to a whole world dealing with a pandemic!
The pandemic has seen some very strange things happen in the world. Fighting over toilet paper being one of them! But most disturbingly it has seen so many businesses lost due to Covid-19.
Although I needed to cancel some of my classes and later reduce the size of my classes, I have been very fortunate to have my online business sales increase due to the lock down.
There has been a number of obvious reasons why this increase has occured. The biggest one being that whole families where in lock down, and needed to keep busy and keep their minds and hands active. But I think the biggest reason my online sales increased so dramatically , was that Australians were buying locally. And by locally, I mean within Australia.
I know that fabric is expensive to buy in Australia and I really can’t tell you why. I, as I am sure many other stores, try to keep the cost of fabric and other craft items down as much as we possibly can. But due to the shut down of places like America, Australians have had to source their craft materials from Australian retailers. Craft sales went through the roof! And all owners of fabric, haberdashery and craft stores benefited from this. So much so we were running out of stock of certain items.
Small business owners like myself, are passionate and love what we do. And if you love visiting quirky little shops that might be hidden away in the bushes like mine, or you still like to feel and touch before you buy, then please keep supporting us.
I know we live in a global world but when the world does get back to normal, please remember to shop locally. It makes a huge difference not only to individuals and their families but to the Australian economy.
I will be closed from Monday 21 December 2020 to Wednesday 6 January 2021. I will send out my next email in January giving you an update on classes and dates.
Thank you to all the beautiful customers that have visited my shop, both online and in person, did a workshop or just popped in to say hello. As some of you know it has been a very trying year for me personally, and I appreciate the support and encouragement I have received. It has kept me going.
I think we all need some Christmas cheer this year. And from my family to yours, I wish you a safe and Merry Christmas and the happiest of new year.
Below I have some pics from my workshops this year. Thanks everyone for your continued support.
